Brand op balkon Sint Annadalflat

[Maastricht | zaterdag 8 juni 2024] Afgelopen zaterdag heeft korte tijd brand gewoed op een balkon in de hoogbouw Sint Annadalflat in Mariaberg. De brand brak uit rond half vier tweede verdieping en zorgde volgens Veiligheidsregio Zuid-Limburg voor flinke schade. Uit voorzorg werd een aantal boven- en naastgelegen appartementen ontruimd. De brandweer heeft voor het blussen een hoogwerker gebruikt. Daarnaast waren er vier tankautospuiten ter plaatse. Door de hoge temperaturen sprongen enkele ramen kapot. De brand werd kort na de melding opgeschaald na middelbrand. De oorzaak van de brand is niet bekend gemaakt. Er vielen zover bekend geen slachtoffers.

Fire on balcony of Sint Annadal apartment building

[Maastricht | Saturday, June 8, 2024] Last Saturday, a fire broke out briefly on a balcony of the high-rise Sint Annadal apartment building in Mariaberg. The fire started around 3:30 p.m.  on the second floor and caused significant damage according to the Safety Region of the South Limburg area. As a precaution, a number of apartments above and adjacent to the fire were evacuated. The fire department used a cherry picker to extinguish the fire. Additionally, four fire engines were on site. Due to the high temperatures, some windows shattered. The fire was escalated to a medium-scale fire shortly after the report. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed. There were no reported casualties.
