Mariaberg prioriteitswijk voor openbare sport- en speellocaties in Maastricht

[Maastricht 28 februari 2023 | Mariaberg] Het college van burgemeester en wethouders van de gemeente Maastricht heeft voor de periode 2023-2026 een plan van aanpak vastgesteld voor alle openbare sport- en speellocaties in Maastricht. Met dit plan wil het college de sport- en speelmogelijkheden in de openbare ruimte verbeteren. Per jaar is hiervoor 350.000 euro beschikbaar. Hiermee wordt de eerdere bezuiniging van 200.000 euro teruggedraaid en een streep gezet door het verdwijnen van 125 locaties. Aanvullend wil het college extra investeren in onderhoud, in de realisatie van een beweegvriendelijke omgeving op vier onderwijslocaties en in de wensen die voortkomen uit de gesprekken met de buurten. Uitgangspunt van het plan is kwaliteit boven kwantiteit. In de periode tot 2026 komen er 9 sport- en speellocaties bij, 14 kleine speelplekken vervallen en van 9 locaties worden de speeltoestellen verplaatst. In 2026 zijn er dan 207 openbare sport- en speelplekken in de stad. Voor elke buurt is uitgewerkt om welke plekken het gaat. Ook is op buurtniveau het onderhoud en de wijze van vervanging voor de komende vier jaren in kaart gebracht.

Concreet wordt bij een aantal nieuwe kindcentra de komende jaren een beweegvriendelijke omgeving gerealiseerd. Deze is onder schooltijd voor (mede) gebruik van de school en na schooltijd beschikbaar voor de buurt. Ook komen er 7 nieuwe speelplekken en 2 nieuwe jeu des boules bij. 1 trapveld en 2 jeu des boules banen verdwijnen. Hiermee komt het totaal aantal speelplekken in 2026 uit op 207, verspreid over de stad. Dit komt neer op ongeveer 1 kwalitatief goede en veilig bereikbare speelplek per 75 kinderen. In de prioriteitswijken zoals Mariaberg streeft de gemeente naar behoud en/of meer kwalitatief betere openbare sport- en speelplekken (1 per 50 kinderen). 

Mariaberg: Priority Neighborhood for Sports and Play Areas

[Maastricht February 28, 2023 | Mariaberg] The municipality of Maastricht has adopted a plan of action for all public sports and playground locations in Maastricht for the 2023-2026 period.

Through this plan, the municipality wants to improve sports and playground facilities in public spaces. Each year 350,000 euros will be available for this purpose. This will undo the previous cutback of 200,000 euros and cancellation of 125 locations.

In addition, the board wants to increase investment in maintenance, in the realization of an activity-friendly environment at four educational locations and in requests coming from consultations held with neighborhoods.

Principle of the plan is quality over quantity. In the period until 2026, 9 sports and playground locations will be added, 14 small playgrounds will be dropped and the playground equipment of 9 locations will be relocated. Consequently, in 2026 there will be 207 public sports and playgrounds in the city.

For each of the neighborhoods, the sites involved have been outlined. The maintenance and method of replacement for the next four years have also been set out at neighborhood level.

Specifically, an activity-friendly environment will be constructed at a number of new child centers in the coming years. This will be available during school hours for (co-)use by school and subsequently for the neighborhood.

Also, 7 new playgrounds and 2 new bocce courts will be added. 1 football court and 2 bocce courts will disappear. This brings the total number of playgrounds in 2026 to 207, spread throughout the city. This comes down to about 1 good quality and safely accessible playground for every 75 children. In priority neighborhoods such as Mariaberg, the municipality strives to maintain and/or increase the quality of public sports and playgrounds (1 per 50 children).
